What this calculator actually does

This is one tool with several starting questions (FET, weeks pregnant, IUI, retrieval, beta). It is not six separate products. Dating uses clinic date + 266 days − embryo age. Your result is an educational estimate. Confirm it with the clinic that has your embryology report.

Offsets we use

Embryo or procedureAdd to the clinic dateDo not confuse with
Day 3 transfer263 daysRetrieval morning, unless that is all you have
Day 5 blastocyst, fresh or FET261 daysThe freeze date or lining-start date
Day 6 blastocyst260 daysRounding “back” to Day 5
Day 7 blastocyst259 daysTreating every blastocyst as Day 5
Egg retrieval / fertilization266 daysA later transfer you already completed
IUI or donor insemination266 daysTrigger-shot night, unless your clinic dated from that

What not to enter

  • FET freeze date, cryo storage years, or the first estrogen pill
  • Last menstrual period for a medicated FET (unless you switched the menu to LMP on purpose)
  • Trigger-shot calendar day when you have a documented insemination or transfer
  • A beta hCG number in the due-date date field — betas do not change embryo age
  • Ultrasound “size in weeks” as if it were transfer day

Day 6 and Day 7 in plain language

Some embryos reach blastocyst stage on Day 6 or Day 7 instead of Day 5. The lab note matters: a “Day 7 blastocyst transferred 10 June” uses +259 days, not the Day 5 offset. Treating every blast as Day 5 shifts the due date forward by one or two days — enough to confuse scan scheduling.

Example: Day 7 transfer on 10 June 2025 → educational due date 25 February 2026. The same calendar transfer labeled Day 5 would incorrectly show 27 February 2026.

FET: transfer date vs freeze date

Frozen embryo transfer dating uses the thaw-and-transfer morning plus embryo age. Common mistakes:

  • Entering the cryo freeze date from a storage receipt
  • Entering the first estrogen pill or lining-check day
  • Adding years in storage to the pregnancy count

Example: embryo frozen as Day 5 in March 2024, thawed and transferred 3 September 2025 → enter 3 September 2025 and Day 5. The due date is 30 May 2026 (+261), regardless of how long it was frozen.

Weeks-pregnant mode

If you already know gestational age from a clinic scan, open weeks pregnant instead of back-calculating from LMP. Period apps often assume natural conception and will disagree with IVF paperwork.

Will ultrasound overwrite this date?

Because conception timing is documented, many teams keep the IVF date if a first-trimester scan is within about five days. Second- and third-trimester measurements are poorer dating tools. A large gap is a conversation with your clinician, not a silent overwrite from this website. Read the IVF due date vs ultrasound guide and the pregnancy guide.
